December 13, 2021 (Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil Waututh)/Vancouver, B.C.) – To facilitate effective services for members, the BC Craft Farmers Co-op (BCCFC) is establishing a new Concierge service that will provide Co-op members with exclusive access to a roster of qualified and pre-approved cannabis consultants who want to help BC’s craft cannabis sector achieve its full potential in the legal market.

In response to concerns from BCCFC members about predatory practices of some cannabis consultants, BCCFC published a ‘Help Wanted’ notice earlier this year inviting reputable quality assurance and cannabis licensing professionals to join an exclusive roster for members-only.

Among other things, the notice identified a list of general qualifications and services that members told the Co-op they were looking for in a cannabis consultant.

“We want to thank the professional consultants that responded to the notice and our dedicated committee of members that participated in the interview process,” said Nicole Post, BCCFC President.  “We are excited to approve the first set of consultants for our roster and establish a dedicated Concierge service to help BCCFC members access these services. We look forward to launching similar processes in the future for other services members have prioritized.”

The roster of consultants features two member categories and services that are tailored to where BCCFC members are in the process of transitioning to the legal market:

MEMBER CATEGORY CONCIERGE SERVICE
Pre-Licensing Explorer: Members who are considering an investment and licence application.
Applicant: Members who are initiating a license application.
Post-Licensing   Compliance: Members who have secured a licence and require support maintaining and documenting compliance.
Marketing: Members who have received a licence and need support preparing their product for the market and selling it.

BCCFC Members can take advantage of this new service by contacting the Assistant Secretary at assistantsecretary@bccraftfarmerscoop.com.

In addition to facilitating access to a roster of qualified and pre-approved consultants, the BCCFC Concierge will:

  • Expand service for members to include processing, lab testing, financial, insurance and bulk purchasing services.
  • Establish an affordable service fee and dividend reward structure for participating members.
  • Continuously accept, review and assess new applications from cannabis consultants who want to join the concierge roster.

Cannabis consultants interested in helping BC’s craft cannabis farmers, processors, nurseries and retailers achieve their full potential in the legal market are invited to contact assistantsecretary@bccraftfarmerscoop.com.
