FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 8, 2023

Syilx (Okanagan)/Kelowna, B.C. – The Retail Cannabis Council of BC (RCCBC) and BC Craft Farmers Co-op (BCCFC) have released more details of the BC Cannabis Summit agenda, including confirmation that British Columbia’s Deputy Premier Hon. Mike Farnworth will deliver a keynote lunch address on Saturday, April 22.

The second BC Cannabis Summit is scheduled for April 21-23, 2023 on the traditional and unceded territory of Syilx Okanagan People in Kelowna, B.C. The Summit’s Day Two theme is “The State of BC Cannabis: Where is the industry at today and where should we be next year on 4/20? How can we get there together?”

In addition to the Deputy Premier’s keynote lunch address, the Summit’s Day Two agenda includes:

  • question and answer sessions with representatives of the BC Liquor Distribution Branch, BC Cannabis Secretariat and BC Government Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch;
  • special presentations from All Nations Mestiyexw, BC Craft Farmers Co-op, Retail Cannabis Council of BC, and Kootenay Cannabis Development Council; and
  • expert panels on the health of BC’s cannabis sector and the future of medical cannabis access.

Michelle Mungall, former Nelson-Creston MLA and BC Minister for Jobs, Economic Development, Competitiveness and Competitiveness (2020) and Minister for Energy, Mines, and Petroleum Resources will host a question-and-answer session with the Deputy Premier following his keynote address. Michelle is also hosting the Summit’s opening day panel on B.C.’s cannabis tourism and job creation opportunities.

Spaces are limited for the Deputy Premier’s lunch address. Delegates will be asked to RSVP to reserve their spot.  Plans are being developed to stream the address live in the Summit’s trade show and social media platforms.

More Day Two details are available at bccannabissummit.ca.  The day three agenda will be announced in the coming days and will include additional speakers and panellists.

Since launching the 2023 Summit earlier this year, BCCFC and RCCBC have announced All Nations Mestiyexw as this year’s title partner, and an opening day agenda focused on BC cannabis tourism and job creation opportunities.  The Weed Pool Cannabis Cooperative was also confirmed as the returning lead partner for 2023.
