In April, BC’s craft cannabis community lost an expert farmer, community leader, and a beloved father. Dan Paul was a micro-licence holder from Nakusp where – in addition to being a passionate cannabis farmer – he was a leader in his community, active in many causes with local non-profit organizations. More than anything, Dan loved his family. Our hearts go out to them for their loss.
BC Craft Farmers Co-op President, Tara Kirkpatrick, paid tribute to Dan Paul at the closing ceremony of the BC Cannabis Summit, which he was on the planning committee for. Dan was also an original member of BCCFC. One of Dan’s close friends, Gary Kemple, paid a heartfelt and emotional tribute to Dan. Attendees of the Summit were honoured that a member of Dan’s family was present for the tribute. The Summit adjourned following the tribute, and 4/20 celebrations were held at the Eldorado Hotel rooftop patio in Dan’s honour.
BCCFC offered to donate $1,000 to the Nakusp Secondary School to create a scholarship fund to support a student seeking a career in agriculture. The funds were presented to the school in June by Dan’s wife, Anne-Marie.
