Capital Region Cannabis Meetings and Activities Planned April 15-20
For our 2025 BC Craft Cannabis Summit, the BC Craft Farmers Co-Op (BCCFC) is taking BC’s internationally celebrated cannabis Legacy to the provincial Legislature. Cannabis meetings will be arranged around the BC Legislature April 15-17. A South Island cannabis tourism showcase is being organized Saturday in advance of a permitted 4/20 celebration Sunday at the BC Legislature.
Members and supporters are invited to join BCCFC volunteers in the Capital Region, meet their provincial elected representative and celebrate Victoria’s historic cannabis culture. Contact our BCCFC Concierge to participate. More details on Summit activities will be announced through our social media accounts here.
BCCFC President Tara Kirkpatrick said, “As the US President threatens Canada’s economy, it is important the BC government and provincial MLAs understand the economic and job creation potential of promoting BC’s world famous craft cannabis across the province, throughout Canada and around the world. Now is a good time for our provincial Legislature to finally embrace BC’s cannabis legacy.”
BCCFC has been hosting an annual BC Craft Cannabis Summit with community partners since 2022. After two sold out events in Kelowna (2022, 2023) and BC’s first legal cannabis street party last year in Prince George.
Building on recent improvements to the federal government’s Cannabis Act in favour of BC craft cannabis farmers and the joint-policy resolution approved by delegates attending last year’s BC Craft Cannabis Summit in Prince George, 2025 Summit themes will focus on:
- supporting the growth and transition of BC craft cannabis farmers and processors
- establishing a BC craft cannabis brand to support Buy BC and Buy Canada consumer awareness campaigns
- implementing a provincial cannabis tourism strategy
- addressing unfairness in BC’s cannabis distribution and retail policies
- respecting First Nation jurisdiction
- strengthening medical access
“Decisions being made by the BC government have a significant impact on the provincial economy and the lives of BC craft cannabis farmers, processors and independent retailers,” said BCCFC Vice-President Richard Willems. “That is why it’s important MLAs hear from the front-line of BC’s cannabis sector. This is not happening now. For this year’s Summit, we hope to bridge this gap and strengthen our provincial economy at this critical time.”
