FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 8, 2023

Syilx (Okanagan)/Kelowna, B.C.) – The Retail Cannabis Council of BC (RCCBC) and BC Craft Farmers Co-op (BCCFC) announced today that Weed Pool Cannabis Co-op will co-host the 2023 BC Cannabis Summit in Kelowna, B.C. April 21-23, 2023.

Weed Pool co-hosted the first BC Cannabis Summit in 2022 and subsequently expanded their Saskatchewan operations to British Columbia.

“Having the Weed Pool back as co-host of our second BC Cannabis Summit demonstrates the ongoing national demand for BC craft cannabis products,” said RCCBC Executive Director Jaclynn Pehota. “In addition to giving the BC Cannabis summit a more national focus, Weed Pool’s participation highlights the benefits of a more direct and less bureaucratic approach to cannabis distribution that benefits consumers, local craft farmers and independent retailers.”

RCCBC and BCCFC are inviting craft cannabis stakeholders across B.C. and Canada to “roll it up and hash it out” together in B.C.’s Okanagan Valley from April 21 to 23, 2023 at the Eldorado Resort. The Eldorado is Kelowna’s finest full-service waterfront resort.

“We are thrilled to continue supporting the important work of RCCBC and BCCFC,” said Weed Pool CEO, Brett Wells. “We look forward to meeting many retailers and producers as we expand our single-portal platform, delivering high-quality products at a fair price for everyone, to British Columbia.”

The Weed Pool is a cooperative of independent retailers who have pooled their resources for greater purchasing power and access to a large selection of products. The cooperative distributes to more than 90 stores across Saskatchewan and is on track to service over 100 stores this spring. In partnership with Western Processing, the Weed Pool also provides a path to market for cultivators across Canada with their processing and white-label options. Learn more about the Weed Pool here.

BCCFC Vice-President Andrew Gordon said, “With these progressive co-hosts, we look forward to another memorable event this spring that will showcase our sector’s innovative spirit, shape cannabis policy and celebrate the excellence of BC craft farmers and retailers.”

Over the past couple of weeks, the BC Cannabis summit has confirmed B.C. Deputy Premier, Hon. Mike Farnworth and BC’s Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism and Special Advisor to the Premier for Youth, Brittny Anderson, as keynote speakers.

More speakers and Summit partners will be announced over the coming days and weeks. Learn more and register at bccannabissummit.ca. RCCBC and BCCFC members receive VIP rates. All delegates get access to exclusive accommodation rates at the Eldorado Resort.
