Kelowna (British Columbia)/Syilx (Okanagan) – The Association of Canadian Cannabis Retailers (ACCRES) and BC Craft Farmers Co-Op (BCCFC) announced today that Saskatchewan-based Weed Pool Cannabis Co-op will co-host the BC Cannabis Summit this spring in Kelowna, B.C. ACCRES and BCCFC are inviting craft cannabis stakeholders across BC and Canada to “roll it up and hash it out” together in B.C.’s Okanagan Valley from April 20 to 22, 2022.
“Having the Weed Pool co-host the first BC Cannabis Summit demonstrates the significant national demand for BC craft cannabis products,” said BCCFC President Nicole Post. “In addition to giving the BC Cannabis summit a more national focus, Weed Pool’s participation will highlight the benefits of adopting a more direct and less bureaucratic approach to cannabis distribution that benefits consumers, local craft farmers and independent retailers.”
Subject to public health orders, the BC Cannabis Summit will take place at the Eldorado Resort, Kelowna’s finest full-service waterfront resort, featuring two hotels beautifully located on the shores of Lake Okanagan, minutes from downtown, golf, wineries, and ski resorts. The Eldorado Resort has provided a variety of special rates for accommodation options for Summit participants.
Saskatchewan Weed Pool President Jim Southam said, “we are thrilled to have this opportunity to support BCCFC and ACCRES and to network with independent BC Cannabis retailers to expand the Weed Pool nationally.”
The Weed Pool Cannabis Cooperative is made up of independent Saskatchewan retailers. They plan to expand and support independent cannabis businesses across Canada. Recently, Weed Pool announced plans to establish a cannabis processing partnership with ‘Western Cannabis’ to help craft farmers get their products to a national market.
Previously, ACCRES and BCCFC confirmed Dutchie as the Summit’s other co-host. ACCRES Executive Director Jaclynn Pehota said, “with these progressive co-hosts, we look forward to organizing a safe and memorable event this spring that will showcase our sector’s innovative spirit, shape cannabis policy and celebrate the excellence of BC craft farmers and retailers.”
An online portal has been established at bccannabissummit.ca to register for the Summit, take advantage of partnership opportunities and book guestrooms at Eldorado Resort. ACCRES and BCCFC members receive VIP rates. A planning committee is organizing other partnership opportunities, keynote speakers, Summit agenda and policy process. More details will be announced this month.
ACCRES is a non-profit, member-driven industry association that represents more than 100 storefronts across BC. It is the goal of the organization to serve as a positive, proactive advocate to protect and expand business opportunities for the private cannabis retail industry.
