(Syilx (Okanagan)/Kelowna, B.C.) – The Retail Cannabis Council of BC (RCCBC) and BC Craft Farmers Co-op (BCCFC) are excited to announce the first keynote speaker for the 2023 BC Cannabis Summit. The Honourable Mike Farnworth, Deputy Premier of British Columbia, and Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, will be in attendance.
The second annual BC Cannabis Summit is scheduled to take place April 21-23, 2023 on the traditional, unceded territory of the Sylix Okanagan People in Kelowna, BC.
“We know Minister Farnworth understands the significant potential for BC’s craft cannabis sector to generate thousands of clean, green jobs in all regions of the province,” said BCCFC President Tara Kirkpatrick. “We also know how excited the Minister will be to hang out with the best craft cannabis farmers, processors and independent retailers in the world. We hope many other BC sector leaders and elected officials will join us lakeside in Kelowna this spring.”
Minister Farnworth was first elected as MLA for Port Coquitlam-Burke Mountain in 1991 and most recently re-elected in 2020 for the riding of Port Coquitlam. He has served as Minister of Public Safety, Solicitor General and Government House Leader since July 2017 and, as of October 2021, has been appointed Deputy Premier.
As MLA, he served in numerous cabinet positions, including Minister of Health and Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
