Prince George Takes a Progressive Step: Slashing Cannabis Retail Licence Fees!
We’re thrilled to share some fantastic news from last night’s Prince George Council meeting. The council has demonstrated progressive leadership by voting in favour of significantly reducing cannabis retail license fees, aligning them with fees of other businesses.
Currently, cannabis retailers are looking at a license fee of $1,562.50 in 2025. However, if the proposed amendment is passed, this fee will be substantially reduced to $351.23! This landmark decision, passed with an overwhelming majority of 6-1, marks a pivotal step towards recognising and supporting the cannabis industry’s potential, treating it on par with other sectors.
This resolution resonates with the sentiments of many, including MLA Kyle Sampson, who astutely pointed out the parallels between the regulation of cannabis and liquor, both overseen by the same ministry. This move by the Prince George Council is not just a win for the cannabis industry but a win for equality, fairness, and progressive governance.
To the Prince George Council, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Your forward-thinking approach is shaping a fairer landscape for cannabis businesses to thrive.
Here’s to many more wins and to a future where the cannabis industry is recognised, respected, and rewarded equally!
