FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 3, 2023

(Syilx (Okanagan)/Kelowna, B.C.) – B.C.’s two leading cannabis associations are co-hosting the second annual BC Cannabis Summit this spring in the Okanagan Valley.  The Retail Cannabis Council of BC (RCCBC) and BC Craft Farmers Co-op (BCCFC) are inviting craft cannabis stakeholders across B.C. and Canada to Kelowna, on the traditional, unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan People, from April 21-23, 2023.

“Thanks to the warm reception we received from the City of Kelowna, Westbank First Nation, and the Eldorado Resort, our first annual event last year was a big success,” said RCCBC Executive Director, Jaclynn Pehota. “The 2023 BC Cannabis Summit and Trade Show will build on that success and further establish our craft farmers and independent retailers as job creators, innovators, and engines of sustainable economic growth in all regions of the province.”

“With the federal Cannabis Act under review, leadership from Indigenous governments in B.C. and the roll-out of provincial farm gate, direct sales and consumption policies, this is a good time for our world-class B.C. cannabis community to hash out sector issues together,” said BCCFC President Tara Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick noted that space is limited and sold out quickly last year.

A planning committee has been established to organize partnership packages, speakers, panels, and a comprehensive agenda. An event website has been launched at bccannabissummit.ca to sell passes and partnership opportunities. Members of BCCFC and RCCBC benefit from exclusive rates.

Kelowna’s finest full-service, waterfront resort, Eldorado Resort has provided special rates, consumption locations, and accommodation options for delegates. Eldorado Resort is comprised of two hotels – Manteo and Hotel Eldorado –  beautifully located on the shores of Lake Okanagan, minutes from downtown, golf, wineries, and ski resorts.

BCCFC and RCCBC are also working closely with Tourism Kelowna and local businesses to develop a program for attendees to extend their stay in the Okanagan Valley to visit cannabis businesses and other area attractions. Additional partnerships will be announced over the coming weeks including event program details.
