Since the start of 2023, BCCFC has been collaborating with other sector partners to seek action from the BC government on a series of outstanding problems members have communicated regularly.
This started with a frank multi-agency meeting with the BC government officials in January. This dialogue was followed by an extraordinary presence of provincial officials at our BC Cannabis Summit in April. The latest step was a follow-up multi-agency meeting to chart progress on Friday.
Unfortunately, the issues were still the same. Farm status, direct sales, farm gate, BC distribution, high fees, the Cannabis Act review; and lack of provincial investment to help craft farmers, BC processors and independent retailers transition to the faltering post-prohibition market.
BCCFC is at the table fighting for the interest of members and a just transition to the legal market that is not happening now. Watch for an update in the coming weeks.
