Each month we feature a selection of our Co-op Members and Supporters. They live the Co-op’s mission and demonstrate the innovate nature of the independent entrepreneurs that make up BC’s highly skilled craft cannabis sector.
Anna does not fit any stereotype for an accountant. Her enthusiasm for the potential for entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry is infectious; she comes across as a bright light making her name in an industry that can often seem drowned in a murky sea of regulations. An entrepreneur herself, she is set to expand her own business, ProFix Accounting, by 100% by hiring a bookkeeper.
Her credentials are solid. Prior to launching ProFix, Anna worked as a the Chief Financial Officer of small and medium sized firms. Not a generalist, she enjoys the challenge of understanding and anticipating the challenges faced by a particular industry. Her heroes are many, especially women change-makers. She’s started in Instagram page (annadibella_cpa )to celebrate known and relatively unknown women leaders.
Going into business for herself early in 2020, her first challenge was the necessity of completely revamping her business plan, which initially was designed to focus more on networking events. The pandemic scuttled that plan in short order.
Although some of her acquaintances warned her against working within the cannabis industry, Anna had a strong feeling that cannabis industry players are currently underserved by business professionals. She wants to work with producers, processors or growers who may be struggling to fulfill their aspirations, whether that’s simply to make a living for their family, or to build a many-faceted business with a healthy profit margin.
She recognizes that under Health Canada regulations, it’s hard for farmers to be profitable. For processors or retailers who wonder why their sales are good but their bank account somehow is not, she can help. Her gift is strategic business planning – determine your goals, decide on key performance indicators so you know you’re on the right track, develop an accounting system that serves to make your money flow transparent (and going in the right way!). She prides herself on being a good problem solver and creative thinker.
ProFix offers members of the BC Craft Farmers Co-op in-depth or occasional help as needed. She is available by the hour or by the project, and has the background to determine what’s pertinent to your achieving your business goals. She’ll guide you in the development of an efficient accounting system that will help you grow your business and keep you sane.
